Answer

The sun's rays strike the earth's surface making it warm. When the sun's rays fall on the surface of the earth, a part of then gets reflected and a part of the radiation get absorbed. This heat is trapped on the Earth's surface by the greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane. These trapped radiation further warm the earth. This phenomenon of trapping of the sun's radiation by the gases present on the Earth's surface is called the greenhouse effect.

The earth would have been too cold to sustain life without the natural greenhouse effect. You must have seen a greenhouse in which plant are grown. It is a glass house that allows the sun's energy to inter but prevent it from escaping. Thus, the temperature in the glass house is higher than its surrounding, thus, helping the plants to grow.

The accumulation of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, etc has increased in the atmosphere due to air pollution over the years. This Eastern has increased the average temperature of the earth leading to the corresponding changes in the climate. This phenomenon is called global warming.

Global warming has become a major concern worldwide and is causing many adverse effects on the climate. Rising of the sea level is one of its result. In many areas such as the coastal areas, flood obtained in counted due to the imbalance caused in the climate. It also affect rainfall, agriculture, forest, etc.
