Sewage treatment is the process of removing contaminants from wastewater, primarily from household sewage. Physical, chemical, and biological processes are used to remove contaminants and produce treated wastewater (or treated effluent) that is safer for the environment.

Question :-

Explain about sewage treatment.

Answer :-

Bacteria are widely used this day for treatment of sewage. Sewage consist of organic waste is like household wastage, human and animal excreta, factory wastes, etc. Sewage is treated in sewage treatment plant in order to make it free from any harmful substances. This treated sewage is then allowed to flow in rivers. During the sewage treatment a gas called biogas is produced which is commonly used as a fuel. This fuel is renewable as well as eco friendly in nature.Air we breathe in the water we drink or the food we eat. Microbial diseases that can spread from an infected person to a healthy person through air, water, food or physical contact are called communicable diseases. Examples of such diseases include Cholera, common cold, chickenpox and tuberculosis.

Transmission of the pathogens take place in the following ways :-

● Direct contact with an infected person.

● Insects and animals act as the carries of pathogens. When insects like house flies sit on the garbage and animal excreta, pathogens stick to their bodies. When these flies sit on uncovered food they transfer the pathogens. Whoever eat the contaminated food is likely to fall ill. Another example of carrier of pathogens is the female Anopheles mosquitoes which carries the pathogens of malaria.

● Pathogens please in the air while coughing.
