The architecture in India during the early medieval period was influenced by Arabic and Islamic characters. New elements such as calligraphy, ornamentation using inlay work was introduced. The various changes depended on the taste of the rulers. The Arabs introduced their arch and done structure in building mosques. There was introduction of Minars. Mortar became the material for cementing. We can see the use of jali works, symmetrical designs, floral decorations etc. One of the most unique feature introduced by them was the Charbagh style of gardening. Thus, this period saw a shift from early forms of Indian architecture because of introduction of foreign elements.
