The constitution makers of our country were worried that in an open electoral competition , certain weaker sections may not stand a good chance to get elected to the Loksabha and state legislative assemblies . they may not have required resources yo win the elections . if that happens our country will be considered as a less democratic country . so , makers of our constitutions thought of system of reserved constituencies for weaker section.
Hope this helps u!!

RESERVED CONSTITUTION

There are some constituencies which are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). In the reserved scheduled castes constituencies, only a person who belongs to a schedule caste can contest for the elections. Similarly, only a person belonging to a scheduled tribe can contest elections from a reserved scheduled tribes constituency.

People belonging to weaker

sections, i.e., the scheduled castes

and scheduled tribes, would have

never got an opportunity to win an

election and become a member of

the Lok Sabha or the Vidhan Sabha

without reservations. They would

never have the resources, the

education and contacts to fight on

equal terms against other

candidates. The number of seats

reserved is in proportion to the share

of scheduled castes and scheduled

tribes in our population.
