➡Valence Bond Theory ⬅
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
◾The valence Bond Theory was Introduced by HEITLER and LONDON .
◾It is basically based on the concepts of :
⭐Atomic Orbital
⭐Electronic Configuration
⭐Overlapping of Orbital
⭐Hybridization
✔POSTULATES;
===============
↪The overlapping of two half filled valence orbital results of two different atoms results in the formation of Covalent Bond .
↪Due to this overlapping of Orbital , the density of the electrons increases that makes the bond more stable .
↪If the Atom has more than one unpaired orbital results in more than one bond .
↪These bonds can be categorised into two types :
☑ Sigma Bond : Formed by head to head collision along the inter nuclear axis .
☑ Pi Bond : Formed by side wise overlapping of Orbital .
✔LIMITATIONS :
================
↪It doesn't explain the tetra valent nature of Orbital.
↪It doesn't give any idea about the energy associated with orbital .
