Remember the Newton's Second Law of Motion , not remember then see this

Every force results in its acceleration

so every force like magnetic, springal , cyclonic gives an acceleration
The same way gravity produces it's acceleration and this is known as acceleration due to gravity. Or it is also denoted by g

if u want to know what is acceleration, it is simply the speed of that object in unit time
Hope it helps

wwwlaibafatima: what is retardation?
ImArnav: Negative acceleration is called retardation. If the velocity of a body is decreasing with respect to time, the acceleration is said to be negative.

Retardation is the rate of decrease in velocity.

Answer:

The acceleration which is gained by an object because of gravitational force is called its acceleration due to gravity. ... Acceleration due to gravity is a vector, which means it has both a magnitude and a direction. The acceleration due to gravity at the surface of Earth is represented by the letter g.
