Q. Explain Acidic, neutral and basic salt.

Answer:-

Salt :- It is a neutral compound made up of by the interaction of acids and bases is known as salt.

On the basis of hydrogen ion contained it's is divided in to three categories:-

Acidic salts :- Those salts which is made up of strong acids but weak base is known as acidic salt.

In this salt hydroxyl ion cannot neutralizes total hydrogen ion.

$NH_4OH+ HCl\rightarrow NH_4Cl + H_2O$

Neutral salt :- Those salts which is made up of complete neutralization of an acid and base is called neutral salt.

In this salt the hydrogen ion is completely neutralizes by hydroxyl ion.

$NaOH + HCl \rightarrow NaCl + H_2O$

Basic salt :- Those salt which is made up of by the interaction of strong base and weak acid is called basic salt.

In this salt the hydroxyl ion is not completely neutralizes by hydrogen ion.

$NaOH + H_2CO_3 \rightarrow Na_2CO_3 + H_2O + CO_2$
