There are three allotropes of carbon-

Diamond.
Graphite.
Buckminsterfullerene.

Diamond- It is a hard substance. It does not conduct electricity. It is made up of only carbon,so its symbol is C.it very strong substance.

Graphite- it is soft than diamond. It is a good conductor of electricity. It is also made of only carbon , so its symbol is also C.

Buckminsterfullerene- It is a recentle discovered allotrope by Austrian scientist, Buckminster Fuller. It is neither a hard nor a soft.

Carbon is capable of forming many allotropes due to itsvalency. Well-known forms of carbon include diamond andgraphite. In recent decades many more allotropes and forms of carbon have been discovered and researched including ball shapes such as buckminsterfullerene and sheets such as graphene. Larger scale structures of carbon include nanotubes, nanobuds and nanoribbons. Other unusual forms of carbon exist at very high temperature or extreme pressures.
