Examples :

  • (1) Iodine is a powerful antisepticIts 2-3 per cent solution in alcohol-water is known as tincture of iodine. Iodoform is also used as an antiseptic for wounds.
  • (2) A dilute aqueous solution of boric acid is a weak antiseptic used for eyes.
  • (3) Thymol obtainedfrom oil of thyme is an excellent non toxic antiseptic
