- first world war was between 1913 to 1918 and India supported Europe in world war 1
- about 67000 army of India were died and 62000 were injured badly
- the defence of the country was increased
- costume duties and income tax were introduced
- there was crop failure due to which there was shortage of food
- prices of food and other goods were doubled between 1913 to 1918
- income tax was increased
- villagers were forced to join the army ( forced recruitment)
- the famine occured in 1921
- about 12 to 13 million people died because of influenza and epidemic
