Hey
my friend
The five major challenges to democracy in India are

1. Poverty: Poverty is one of the most serious challenges faced by Indian democracy. Majority of the population in India lives below the poverty line. The Government has launched many poverty eradication programmes over the years to counter this challenge.

2. Economic inequality: The distribution of economic opportunities in India is grossly uneven and skewed in favour of the privileged.

3. Casteism: Caste-based discrimination is still existent in India although the Constitution prohibits it in all its forms. Also, casteism has penetrated the arena of electoral activity resulting in the politics of vote banks.

4. Illiteracy: A large part of the population of India is illiterate. Those people who are illiterate are often unaware of their rights and duties as citizens and hence cannot contribute much to the democratic process.

5. Communalism: Although communal politics resulted in the partition of India, many political parties still indulge in politics of polarization which leads to hate mongering.

1. Women who are 50% of the total population hardly gets 10% representation in state assemblies and parliament. No wonder that rape, domestic violence, child marriage etc are dealt causally or not an urgent issue for male chauvinist govt

2. Just 1% of the population pays income tax in a nation of 1.24 billion which has at least 15% of them are liable for income tax

3. Unmanageable & inefficient large sized states. India has only 29 states for a population of 124 crore against USA with 50 states for 34 crore people. More than 15 languages spoken  by 10 million people doesn't have states and forcefully administered by govt in alien languages such as hindi, english and other. Hundreds of tribals have no say in govt for distribution of funds and natural sources. And govt consider Maoists/naxals need military solution!

4. Faulty and slow justice system. Four crore pending legal cases in various courts with less than 6000 judges instead of minimum 20,000 judges required and courts are closed for 2 months in summer instead of running 24*7.

5. Black money transactions in both domestic and foreign channels. None of the real estate, gold, business transactions are reporting to govt correctly in a country of 2.40 Trillion Dollar economy!

Btw, List is endless...

And media highlights Bollywood gossips and masala news in full day but mention nothing about the important things said above.

And politicians are competing each other to loot in next choptor, real estate deals

And a CM busy digging education history of PM as if that is the most important issue people of the nation is facing

And we expect India become a developed nation by 2020..we fools

Last but not least, if we don't correct structural problems such as these, we will learn to correct it hard way like Syria, Iraq etc doing
