The consumer protection act , 1986 is one of the most important legal measures in protecting the rights of consumers.
(a) Right to safety : the consumer have the right to be protected against the marketing of goods and services which are hazardous to life and property.
(b) Right to reform : the consumer have the right to know about the quality , quantity in price of goods and services.
(c) Right to choose : consumers have the right to assess the variety of goods and services at competitive prices. in case of single supplier , the consumer have the right to be assured of satisfactory quality and service at a fair price.
(d) Right to be heard : the consumer's interest should receive due to consideration at appropriate forums relating to consumer welfare.
(e) Right to seek Redressal : consumers have the right to get their claims settled in their favour in case of being cheated and exploited by the producer.
