The term imperialism means the practice of extending power ,control or Rule By a country over the political and economic life of areas outside its own borders.
The causes responsible for the growth of imperialism in the 19 century are as follows :
1.In the 19th Century INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION caused imperialism. Due to this Industrial Revolution the European industrialists became very rich. In Asia and Africa for investment they founded colonies their.
2. Europe established their colonies in Asia and Africa FOR THE SAKE OF NATIONAL GLORY.
3. In these colonies the workers were available at CHEAP AND NOMINAL RATES.
4. FOR THE INCREASE DEMAND OF RAW MATERIALS like cotton, Silk ,rubber ,vegetable oils and Minerals etc Europe established their colonies in Asia and Africa.
5.TO SPREAD CHRISTIANITY among the tribal and backward communities of Asia and Africa.
