Steps taken by the Government for gender equality and improvement in the condition of women :

1. In past women had no share in the property of their parents. Pnly the male given such right. It was in Justice to them. Even in the in-laws family they have no such rights. In case the death of her husband, she spends all her life on the mercy of her family. Recently the government of India passed the Hindu Code bill to care away with such inequality. No women are given share in their property along with their brother.

2. Government of India declared dowry system (demanding or giving dowry) illegal. No one can force to play dowry to any party. A person who found guilty for demanding dowry he can easily be prosecuted. This is the fact that upto such great extent it reduced inequality against women.

3. Women's are providing with equal education opportunity as compared to men, so that they become self-dependent. Now women are occupying high posts in various institution. As a result of this much improvement has come in the society and the position (condition) of the women is much improved.

4. India is a democratic country, where every citizen provided equal rights without any discrimination. Women are given equal opportunity to growth and make progress in society with comparison to men. Our leaders put arguments in giving right vote to women.

However such efforts of government such evils like dowry system still presents in the society. More efforts must be taken to uproot social discrimination again women in society.
