Explain any three main features of new constitution of belgium
Answers
(ii) Power sharing : Many powers of the central government have been given to state governments of the two regions of the country. The state governments are not subordinate to the Central Government.
(iii) Separate government for Brussels : Brussels has a separate government in which both the communities have equal representation. The French-speaking people accepted equal representation in Brussels because the Dutch-speaking community has accepted equal representation in the Central Government.
Following are the three main features of the new constitution of Belgium:
1. An equal representation of ministers: the new constitution declared that the number of ministers shall be equal in the central government. For instance, the number of ministers from both the Dutch and French-speaking shall be equal.
2. Share in the power: in this context, many of the Central government's power was given to the state government of both the Dutch and French-speaking regions of the nation.
3. A separate authority for Brussels: under this separate authority both the societies were given equal representation. The French-speaking society allowed equal representation in Brussels as the Dutch-speaking society accepted the equal representation in the Central Government.
