explain any three measure adopted to attain self sufficiency in food grain since independence ​

When India became free, there was an acute shortage of food grains. The country has to import food grains from other countries to meet this situation. In the late 1960s the government adopted certain strategies in the production of food grains. These strategies were:- 

1. Use of HYV seeds 

2. Use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides

3. New scientific methods of farming

4. Several schemes for irrigation were undertaken to bring more land under cultivation
