1. Subsistence farming is done on small patch of land.
2. Subsistence farming has two types -
a. Intensive
b. Primitive.
3. Subsistence farming is generally done by family members.
4. Subsistence farming is done by old technology and techniques.
5. It is done to meet only family demands.

1. Commercial farming is done on large tracts.
2. Crops are grown on a large scale.
3. Crops are grown to meet market needs.
4. Labours are deployed to work.
5. Modern methods and techniques are used. ex. Fertilizers , Insecticides , HYV seeds.
