Explain application of elastic behaviour of material.

elastic behaviour of material is used in the construction of bridges , columns , beams , pillars etc.. for example , while constructing of a crane, used to lift loads, it is kept in mind that the extension of the rope does not exceed the elastic limit of rope. To overcome the problem of bending under force the elastic behaviour of the material used must be considered primarily.

engineer first study elastic behaviour of material . let length of rod of material is L , cross section area is A and after lifting load F, extension of rod is ∆L, then elastic modulus is given by Y = FL/A∆L
this way they understand material is suitable or not for construction of bridge , crane etc...
