Answer:

Article 310 of the Indian Constitution deals about the term or tenure(period) of office of servant of union(central) or state government.

Explanation:

  1. Article 310 is based upon the doctrine of pleasure which is practiced in England. According to doctrine, the government servant shall hold his office until the Queen of England wants. So, in India a government servant whether serving civil or defence shall hold his office until the president (at union level) or governor (at state level) wants.
  2. In India Queen is replaced by President & Governor at union & state level respectively.
  3. But this doctrine is not absolute and found to be restricted in India. And it did not applies to the judges of Supreme & High Courts, Election commissioner, Chairman of Public service commission and many normal services of union or state.
  4. This doctrine is not absolute in India because it found to be arbitrary and violate fundamental rights (Part III of Indian Constitution)
