Hemodialysis

\bigstar Blood drained from a convenient artery is pumped into a dialysing unit after adding an anticoagulant (heparin).

\bigstar The unit contains a coiled cellophane tube surrounded by a fluid (dialysing fluid) having the same composition as that of plasma except the nitrogenous wastes.

\bigstar The porous cellophane membrane of the tube allows the passage of molecules based on concentration gradient,

\bigstar As nitrogenous wastes are absent in the dialyzing fluid, these substances freely move out, thereby clearing the blood.

\bigstar The cleared blood is pumped back to the body through a vein after adding anti-heparin to it.

Answer:

Hemodialiysis is the most common types of dialysis . This process uses an artificial kidney (hemodialyzer ) to remove waste and extra fluid from the blood . The blood is removed from the body and filtered through the artificial kidney . The filtered blood is then returned to the body with the help of a dialysis machine .
