explain briefly how lightning occurs
ishita651:
Heavier, negatively charged particles sink to the bottom of the cloud. When the positive and negative charges grow large enough, a giant spark - lightning - occurs between the two charges within the cloud. This is like a static electricity sparks you see, but much bigger.

Lightning is a physical phenomenon
In which
When one cloud gets charged due to ions of air molecules approaches other cloud
Since the neutral cloud has less concentration of charges than charged cloud ,electrons/charges flow from one cloud to another
Due to this the air in between also gets charged .the transmission of charges is seen as lightning

Explanation:
When two patches of cloud bearing different charges come face to face, they get attracted to one another and the electrons from the negatively charged cloud jumped to the positively charged cloud through moist air and as a result lighting occurs.
