Co-extinction is referred to the extinction of a species that leads to the extinction of the species/organisms that were associated with it in an obligatory way. This can be explained with an example of the fish that is a prey, but gets extinct due to over-exploitation by the predators or due to natural causes, will also lead to the extinction of the predator species that used to eat the fish for their nutritive diet.
