Equinox - when sunrays vertically fall over the equator of the earth it is called equinox, both the poles lies equidistance from the sun.

so both hemisphere receives same amount of heat and radiation. and length of day and night are same in both the hemisphere. it occur on 21 march and 23 September.

21 march - spring in the northern hemisphere and autumn in the Southern hemisphere. and

23 September autumn in the northern hemisphere and spring in southern hemisphere.

Northern solstice - called Summer solstice . sunrays vertically fall over the tropic of Cancer.

It occurs on the 21st June.

Northern hemisphere receives more heat and radiation and summer season here. and longest day and the shortest night at this day in this day.

opposite occurs in the Southern hemisphere; here winter season because it receives slanted rays and less heat and the shortest day and the

longest night at this day.

Southern solstice - called winter solstice .

sunrays vertically fall over the tropic of Capricorn.

It occurs on the 22 Decmber.
