DISCOVERY of cell

✔️the cell was first discovered by Robert hooke in 1665.

✔️ he took a slice of cork and observed it in his self designed microscope.

✔️ he observed that the cell was divided into very small compartments. he called that small compartments as small rooms.

✔️ so, from here the cell derived its name from a Latin word that means 'small room'.

✔️ after Robert hooke many other scientist discovered the organelles of the cell. as an example Robert Brown discovered nucleus.

✔️a cell is the basic, structural, functional and fundamental unit of life.

✔️ it is called the functional and fundamental unit of life because our body is made up of small cells and all the works of our body internal and external are performed by the cell.

✔️ it is the building block of the body.

✔️ Every cell derives from pre-existing cell.

CLASSIFICATION of cell

✔️ cells are classified into two categories that are :-

✅plants cell

✅animal cell

1) Plant Cell :-

• they are roughly rectangular in shape.

• the nucleus is present in peripheral position of the cell.

• they have cell wall.

• vacuoles are present in large size or more in numbers.

• they have plastids.

2) Animal Cell :-

• they are roughly circular in shape.

• the nucleus is present in the centre of the cell.

• they do not have cell wall.

• vacuoles are present in small size or absent.

• they do not have plastids.

• Cell was discovered by Robert Hooke 1665 of dead cell by the help of experiment in which he observed in thin section of cork of tree with the help of simple microscope and named as cell
• Living cells discovered by A.V leuwenhoek in 1674 by the help of improved microscope.

Organism have two types :

1] Unicellular organism

=> Those organism which were made up of single cell are called Unicellular organism

2] Multicellular organism

=> Those organism which were made up of different cells are called Multicellular organism
