Chemical co-ordination or endocrine system is a type of co-ordination which is accompanied by chemicals called hormones.

Few of these hormones are given below:

- Thyroid stimulating hormone – It is released by pituitary gland and stimulates the release of thyroxine and triiodothyronine.

- Prolactin- It stimulates mammary glands to produce milk

- Oxytoxin- It has two roles, one is the contraction of uterus during birth and the other one is lactation.

- Growth hormone- It stimulates the growth of the body

- Leutinizing hormone- It trigger ovulation and formation of corpus luteum

- Follicle stimulating hormone- In females, it stimulates the growth of ovary whereas in males it stimulates sperm production.

- Anti-diuretic hormone- It gives signals to kidney of how much water is needed and to be stored in blood

Chemical coordination is centered in a system of glands known as endocrine glands. ... In contrast to chemical coordination, the nervous system coordinates functions in the animal body on a more localized level as it delivers nerve impulses to contract body muscles or regulate gland activities.

The main function of endocrine glands is to secrete hormones directly into the bloodstream. Hormones are chemical substances that affect the activity of another part of the body (target site). In essence, hormones serve as messengers, controlling and coordinating activities throughout the body.
