Chemical Coordination

Chemical Coordination is brought about by Chemicals called Hormones. Hormones are a series of chemical substances composed of proteins or sterol lipids. These Chemicals are actually secretions of glands present in the body. These glands, known as Endocrine Glands, release Hormones directly into the Bloodstream rather than sending them through Ducts. This is because Endocrine Glands lack ducts and hence, are called Ductless Glands. These hormones released by Endocrine Glands control and regulate the development and growth of our body.

Some Endocrine Glands and their secretions are :

1. Pituitary Gland - Growth Hormone

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone

Gonad Stimulating Hormone

2. Thyroid Gland - Thyroxine

3. Adrenal Gland - Adrenaline

Cortisone

4. Pancreas - Insulin

- Glucagon

5. Parathyroid Glands - Parathormone

6. Ovaries - Oestrogen

Progesterone

7. Testes - Testosterone
