chipko movement is a movement by tribals to protect their sacred tree. They covered the trunk of tree by surrounding it.

The chipko andolan 'hug of the tress' was the result of a grassroot level efferot to end the alienation of people from their forest the moment organised by a reni village during the himalays during the early 1970s
