COPRA stands for consumer protection act. It was initiated on December 24 1986 to protect the rights of the consumers and prevent them from getting exploited in the market. It gives the consumers 8 rights. With the spreading of COPRA over the years, many consumer protection councils have been set up.

consumers are exploited in many ways
I) a shopkeeper add many additional charges for goods and demand for extra money
ii) a shopkeeper sell goods for consumers without bill
iii) sometimes expire goods are also sold by shopkeeper
