Water that is chemically bound with some compounds and when combined in the proper ratio, will create a crystal structure unique to the combined compound and water. The compounds usually resist heat so that when the hydrated crystals are heated enough, the water leaves and the compound is dehydrated. Many confuse this water with absorbed water That is only on the surface in a mono layer.
