Explanation:

Darwinism is a theory of biological evolution developed by the English naturalist Charles Darwin (1809–1882) and others, stating that all species of organisms arise and develop through the natural selection of small, inherited variations that increase the individual's ability to compete, survive, and reproduce.

Darwin's theory of evolution:-

✦Charles Darwin formulated a theory of evolution and named it as "Theory of natural selection" which is gleaned from the observations made during a sea voyage around the world.

✦He defined evolution as "descent with modification," which means that species change over time, give rise to new species, and share a common ancestor.

✦The theory is sometimes described as "survival of the fittest".

According to this theory,

✦Organisms which possess traits that favor survival and reproduction will produce more offspring's than other organisms so that it leads the traits to increase in frequency over generations and survive longer,As the resources are limited in nature and hence those kind of organisms are selected by nature.

✦During his voyage,Darwin found out that nearby islands in the Galápagos had similar but nonidentical species of finches living on them.

✦He noted that each finch species was well-suited for its environment and role.

✦Species which have large, tough beaks ate large seeds.

✦Species which ate insects had thin, sharp beaks.

✦He also observed that the finches and other species on the Galápagos Islands were similar to species on the nearby mainland of Ecuador. But not similar to any other species in the world.

✦So after few years he came up with set of ideas ande explained the pattern's he observed during his voyage in his book,"The origin of species".
