Select a cell or a cell range.

On the Home tab, select Number from the drop-down.
 
Or, you can choose one of these options:

Press CTRL + 1 and select Number.

Right-click the cell or cell range, select Format Cells… , and select Number.

Select the dialog box launcher  next to Number and then select Number.

Default number formats:

• Whatever we type the numbers in Excel, we want it to look it in the same way. This is called the number format in Excel. We have the different number formats available in Excel such as percentage format, currency format, scientific format, accounting format, date, custom, special, etc. are the default number formats in Excel.
• We can change the number of formats by right-clicking on the number and then we can select the format cells options from the given options and then we can choose the number format which we want to change.
