There are 3 major component of Earth's Magnetic field are as follows:

  • Magnetic Declination .
  • Horizontal Component of Earth’s Magnetic Field.
  • The angle of Dip or Magnetic Inclination.

Explanation:

There are three Components of Earth’s Magnetic Field , These components are responsible for the magnitude and direction of the magnetic field.

1)  Magnetic Declination .

2) Horizontal Component of Earth’s Magnetic Field.

3) The angle of Dip or Magnetic Inclination.

Magnetic Declination :-   Whenever a magnetic needle is hanged freely in the air, it always points in the north-south direction this is known as Magnetic Meridian.

Horizontal Component of Earth’s Magnetic Field:- and The angle of Dip or Magnetic Inclination:- The angle of dip term as the north pole of the needle makes with the horizontal axis is term as the Angle of Dip or Magnetic Inclination.
