Double Circulation: In the human heart, blood passes through the heart twice in one cardiac cycle. This type of circulation is called double circulation
Double circulation ensures complete segregation of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood which is necessary for optimum energy production in warm-blooded animals.
Circulation of Blood through the heart:
Systemic Vein ⇨ Sinus Venosus ⇨ Right Auricle ⇨ Right Ventricle ⇨ Pulmonary Artery ⇨ Lungs ⇨ Pulmonary Vein ⇨ Left Auricle ⇨ Left Ventricle ⇨ Trunchus Arteriosus ⇨ Systemic Circulation

Double circulation:: The blood flows twice through the heart and it is called double circulation.
1) The blood from all body parts is brought to right auricle which pumps it into right ventricle.Fron right ventricle blood is pumped to lungs (through pulmonary artery)for oxygenation.
2)The oxygenated blood from lungs is brought to left auricle which pumps it into left ventricle .From the left ventricle oxygenated blood is distributed to all parts of the body through largest artery called aorta.[This is second circulation].
IMPORTANCE OF DOUBLE CIRCULATION:
Double circulation not only allows a highly efficient supply of oxygen to body but it also helps in meeting the high energy needs .This high energy is mainly required to maintain the constant body temperature.
