The mechanism involving two acts of fertilisation in an embryo sac is called Double fertilisation.

Double fertilization is a complex fertilization mechanism of flowering plants.

During the act of fertilisation, one male gamete fuses with the egg to form the diploid zygote. The process is called syngamy (or generative fertilisation). The diploid zygote finally develops into embryo. The other male gamete fuses with the two polar nuclei to form triploid (3n) primary endosperm nucleus. The process is called triple fusion (or vegetative propagation). This mechanism involving two acts of fertilisation is an embryo sac is called Double Fertilisation.
