nlx is a short hand representation for the notation of electronic configuration

where n means represents

hydrogen E.C is 1s^ 1

here n is 1

l is 0

x is 1

here n represents principal quantum number

l is sublevel ( orbit)

x is NUMBER of electrons

Hope it is helpful........
