Environment based communication barriers are:

Noise: Noise possesses a physical barrier in an effective communication. Origin of noise can be a external source or it may be present in the communication system itself. For example, it is very hard to establish an effective communication on a factory floor or bus stand or railway station.

So, in order to have an effective communication, communication system and environment should be relatively noise-free, as it distorts the message and act as a barrier to effective communication.

Place: Effective communication also depends upon the place or location where communication is taking place. This can be understood by simple comparison between environment of a government office and that of a multi-national company.

Inconvenient place, poor lighting, rickety furniture and improper space and other surrounding issues can make effect people negatively making them impatient, irritated and annoyed. Thus, causing a significant obstruction in proper communication. Good environment with proper ventilation and lighting improve the quality of communication.
