An enzyme is a substance that acts as a catalyst in living organisms. They are actually proteins. Each type of food has its particular enzyme involved in the digestion process. The carbohydrates, fats and proteins present in our food to be broken down into simpler substances absorbed into the blood. Enzymes help to break them down into simpler substances.
