Enzymes accelerate chemicalreactions. The molecules upon whichenzymes may act are called substrates and the enzyme converts the substrates into different molecules known as products. Almost all metabolic processes in the cell needenzyme catalysis in order to occur at rates fast enough to sustain life.

Types of reaction-
1.Oxioreductases
2.Transferases
3.Hydrolases
4.Lyases
5.Isomerases
6.Ligases.
