Excretion in Humans:-

Excretion is the removal of metabolic wastes from the body.

After food is broken down in the cells, many wastes and toxic substances get produced which need to be removed from the body. Removal of the metabolic wastes produced in the cells is called excretion. Parts of the body that help in the process of excretion from excretory system.

Major excretory wastes produced in the body are:-

  • Nitrogenous wastes like urea and uric acid. They are formed as a result of break down of proteins.
  • Bile salts are produced during fat metabolism in the liver.
  • Bile pigments are produced by breakdown of old worn out red blood cells in liver.
  • Carbon dioxide is produced during respiration in cells.
  • Excess of salts and other products.
