  1. Red soil - Red soil is a type of soil that develops in a warm, temperate, moist climate under deciduous or mixed forest . It has thin organic and organic-mineral layers overlying a yellowish-brown leached layer and it rests on an illuvium red layer.
  2. Black soil - Black soils are mineral soils which have a black surface horizon, enriched with organic carbon that is at least 25 cm deep. .
  3. Soil profile means the different layers of soil.The soil has mainly four layers.
  4. 1st layer - Top soil with humus and vegetation.
  5. 2nd layer - Sub soil with sand,silt and clay.
  6. 3rd layer- Weathered rock material.
  7. 4th layer - Parent rock
