Factors that can affect perspectives in communication are as follows -

  • Visual perception: Visual perception is the ability to perceive, organize and interpret whatever surrounds us. It can affect the communication process in the way that the same message can be explained differently by different people, thus resulting in miscommunication sometimes.
  • Language: Language is one of the most important factors that influence communication processes. The differences in language can lead to frustration and bitterness among the individuals interacting with each other. For example, if there are two persons, one from France who only understands French and another Indian who understands Hindi only, at that point in time language acts as a barrier in communication.
  • Environment: The environment around us affects how we communicate. Noise or workplace affects the communication process. For example, talking to a person in the office and talking to someone at a party, both will differ.
  • Personal factors: Personal factors include one's feelings, nature, his/her ways of thinking, and the ability to handle any situation. For example, if you are under stress, you may not be able to interact effectively.
