But, like solids and liquids, air is matter. It has weight (more than we might imagine), it takes up space, and it is composed of particles too small and too spread apart to see. Air, a mixture of gases, shares properties with water vapor, the gaseous form of water that is part of air.

First lets understand, what is matter :
Anything that has mass and occupies physical space is called matter .
According to modern physics , matter consists of various types of particles, each with mass and size .
There are 3 states of matter. ( plasma is the 4th state of matter.)
- Solid
- Liquid
- Gases
Now we can say as air occupies space and has mass its a matter and moreover it is composed of gases (matter)
