I have a doubt in my ans on the alliance system but I know the imperialism.
so here I give ans.
There was a mad scramble among the the European nations for new territories in Africa followed by France Spain Portugal and Belgium. Britain and France had occupied most of the regions of Africa. When Germany entered the race for establishing colonies Britain and France made a secret agreement in 1904. According to this agreement Britain was to have political control over Egypt and France was to take over Morocco.

Answer:

Explanation:

The alliance system aimed on co-operating with each other to conquer foreign lands, support , and protect one another in an event of war.If a single country was dragged, its allies joined in. For eg, Russia co-operated with Serbia( a fellow Slav nation) to invade Austria, Germany supported the Austrian actions, etc. This promoted the alliances to outflank each other .Many expected that the War would have a decisive result and it would be a short-termed conflict.

Only Italy did not join its true allies, because it wanted Trento from Austria- Hungary
