explain how CO2 is able to control fire
Answers
Carbon dioxide comparatively heavier than oxygen and due to this property, it blankets the fire resulting into cutting or reduction of contact of fire to oxygen. This leaves the fire triangle incomplete and the fire ultimately extinguishes
Q. Explain how Carbon dioxide is able to control fire?
:- Carbon dioxide, being heavier than oxygen, covers the Fire like a blanket and since the fire like a blanket. Since the contact between fuel and oxygen is cut off the fire is controlled.Carbon dioxide can be stored at high pressure as a liquid in cylinder. When released from the cylinder, carbon dioxide expand enormously in volume and cools down so it not only forms a blanket around the Fire, it also brings down the temperature of the fuel. That is why it is an excellent fire extinguisher.
