When CO2 gas is sprayed over the fire, it effectively forms the blanket around the fire.

It also prevents oxygen content form coming in direct contact with fire.

Hence, it controls the fire.

In other words, CO2 is an extremely non-combustion as well as extinguishes fire.

It is a unique feature of Co2.

It is the main reason why CO2 is used in fire extinguishers.
