firstly when u place a straw in a drink, there is some pressure inside the straw as well as the drink. When you suck the drink with the help of the straw, you suck in the air which was inside the straw. As a result, there is low pressure inside the straw. We know a fluid (either gas or a liquid), moves from a region of high pressure to a region of low pressure i.e. it tries to occupy the space inside the straw. Due to this the drink gets sucked inside the straw and then it reaches your mouth.

Answer

When we suck through a drinking straw, low pressure is created inside the straw. The liquid outside rushes into balance the difference.
