As kinetic energy increases with increase in temperature, the particles of matter are able to move more freely. Due to their ability to move freely, the intermolecular forces of atraction become weak and so the physical state changes.
eg. when we heat ice, from a solid state it turns into liquid state , when on heating, the intermolecular forces of attraction become weak.
hope it helps!
