Answer:Forests are rich in vegetation. Herbs, shrubs and trees in the forests hold the top most layer firmly by their roots. This does not allow natural forces like wind and water to carry away the top most fertile layer of the soil easily. Hence, forests prevent soil erosion.

When u plant a tree and as it growd longer and longer it roots also extends and covers a large area of soil. The roots not only increases in size but also increases by thickness. As the roots are spread over a particular part of the soil it holds that part of soil very tightly with the help of its roots and hence prevents soil erosion.
