explain how gender creates discrimination in Indian society

the discrimination starts with the thinking of the society people. There was no support for the girls in earlier days, but now it wont. hence there should be a equal support for both the gender in the Society

Gender discrimination: The idea that men and women are not equal in the society is referred to as gender discrimination or gender inequality.  

It can also be stated as the unequal treatment of individuals due to their gender.

They arise from differences in gender roles and the gender systems are dichotomous and hierarchical.

Examples:

  • Women are always expected to work but also look after the household and take care of the children while the men don't.
  • Transgenders are not given equal opportunities and considered inferior.
  • Having a girl is considered to be a burden and a having a transgender is considered a shame.  
  • Girls are taught to cook while the boys are allowed to learn and play.
  • The decisions made my women are is not valued.
  • Crying is okay for girls but not for boys.
  • Dowry is considered for the brides but not applicable to the grooms.
  • Women constitutes largest unemployed workforce in India.
  • Sex ratio is still low in many Indian states.  
  • India also has the largest number of child marriages in the world.
