During aerobic respiration, the oxygen taken in by a cell combines with glucose to produce energy in the form of Adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and the cell expels carbon dioxide and water. This is an oxidation reaction in which glucose is oxidized and oxygen is reduced.

Aerobic respiration: During the process, the oxygen taken in by a cell associates with glucose and produces energy in the form of ATP (Adenosine triphosphate).

Explanation:

  • Also, the cell expels carbon dioxide and water. This reaction is the oxidation reaction in which glucose gets oxidized and oxygen gets reduced.
  • ATP produced during cellular respiration is the vital fuel that gears up every action and reaction in the cells in the direct or indirect way.
  • The reduction or oxidation produce majority of the energy that released in cellular respiration.
